Washed Away – Written Friday 21st April 2023 (Aged 48)

Washed Away

what to be in life…
and what to say…
dreaming of days –
when the ordinary gets washed away
and the laundry is put back
ready for another day
did you think –
such things would be your doing
who are we –
and who are we seeing?
so,
what to be in life…
a colouring in book –
a kitchen sink drama –
a provincial play?
what to do in life
when the dreams get washed away
when pickpockets steal your hopes
and then your self esteem
but in the end, it is all washed away
like a tableau of dreams
what is there to say
in this, this unholy struggle and fight
what to be in life…
a puzzle that never really becomes right
you must know…
you must know….

  1. I thought I would quote some lines i liked, but the more I read, I realized I would end up quoting the whole poem! Wonderful imagery… there is a softness to the low dose of “daily despair”… beautifully written.
