Hide and Seek – Written Tuesday 23rd September 1997 (Aged 22)

Hide and Seek

i said, don’t speak
but speak you did
to be true,
we only play hide and seek
and we drink –
till we cannot stand up
and then,
you drink some more
because,
you’ve never had enough
and,
when when we can’t do anymore
we run and hide
life is alive
and that is why i said –
come and find me
i was caught before i was bought
and sold before i was old
which is why i knew before i was told
of course,
i have confidence about my confidence
which is why i said i do
because when everything –
is said and done
we will only be young
and we will be revealed within their stares
i said that i do not care
but of course i really do
that’s why i am always there
and i am
