Another One

as you drop another one
you’re a day older
and a day further away from being young
you’re a day away from the inner truth –
inside you and me
a day further away from the day –
that you lost your virginity
that day you took your childhood out –
and swapped it for an adult reality
as you drop another one
you’re a day older and a day closer to the sun
you’re a day older –
and further away from the world you inhabited –
only last week
as you drop another one
do not forget to speak
and say that you don’t miss being young
