Meeting Up Again
i met mary, short and sweet
she was in town,
buying a new pair of dancing feet
i met myself coming back home
and that was some time ago
but i had to ask,
what’s it like to be alone?
of course i never got an answer
i guess we will just roam
i met suzanne,
and i said, it’s been such a long time
but she just ran
and i remembered another decade
another place, another time
i looked up, the clouds hung so heavy
and i knew those clouds were mine
i met somebody new
i said, haven’t i seen you before
but they just left quietly
and i closed that old fashioned door
