The Old Man In My Sleep – Written February 2002 (Aged 26)

The Old Man In My Sleep

the old man in my sleep
bent back and with gas lamp eyes
he carries a lantern
through my own personal seas
sleep is a pattern
one that’s so personal to me
the old man in my sleep
is not so publicity shy
i should be afraid
as i top-toe through this place
a crumbling childhood palace
but all i can hear,
are the cogs of my own nervous system
the beat of my heart
and the old man in my sleep

James Garratt – February 2002
