Silly Game – Written May 2007 (Aged 32)

Silly Game

what relationship did you expect
when you could not accept me for who i was
or even,
what i could be
how did you expect us to bond
when who i am held absolutely no relevance
how did you expect us to get on
when you treated my words with indifference
what friendship did you hope to gain
when all you did was dictated my nature
and insisted that we should just play your game
you only had to listen…
you only had to connect…
you had to treat me with an ounce of self respect
and yet,
all these questions will never be answered
you do not think you have to explain
which is why,
you will always be left to play your silly game
