When I Was Younger
when i was younger
in fact,
when i was so much smaller
i wished upon friends,
who came and appeared much taller
in fact,
i wished upon a place that was truly mine
somewhere for a little boy to go
then they came and took me to my mind
and it taught me the awareness,
i now know
when i was a man but still a boy
they told me,
that i have everything i need
you have an entire world inside of you
one upon which,
you can feed and you can believe
when i was younger
in fact,
when i was so much smaller
adults stood tall and frightening
but storms and thunder
felt so exciting
and somehow,
a representation of the world
one that pooled around my feet
i was glad for my friends
the ones that helped me retreat
the ones that i had wished upon
when i was younger, when i was younger
when i was smaller,
and a small boy with such strange hunger
