Over Hills and Down Valleys
I feel okay
for someone approaching fifty.
I look okay, I feel okay,
ready for new days.
But life,
it fills you up –
just like a steady tap.
And when I turn around –
there is no looking back.
Life,
fills you up though,
as I said,
just like a steady tap,
leaving your excitement on the latch.
Dreams
never come in an even batch.
Hold out your hand,
and feel the contours of your past.
Turn the page of every punchline,
find the reason to laugh.
I feel okay
for someone approaching fifty,
hitting highs,
and trying to avoid feeling so low.
I feel okay, I look okay,
and I know, that it is not quite time to go.
