Where Are We Today?
Where are we today?
Some way,
down the seaside hill,
with the wind in our dreams,
and misery to kill.
Where are we today?
Out of the estuary pass,
with an elephant’s reach,
and a collapsible deckchair,
as we lay,
on a Victorian beach.
I wonder what will become of this
when the days have gone
and we’re beyond the pitch,
when the lights
have finally found their fade.
Still, still I wonder,
where are we today?
