What Shape Can I Be
never seem to fit,
but,
what other shape can i be?
only me,
only me.
i can’t change my sea.
never seem to be quite right,
they praise
my intelligence and unique voice,
but then,
they sit round the table,
and in the end,
they make a different choice.
and this is not idle self-pity,
it’s my self-pity going at full pelt,
but ice cream turns to just deserts,
and dreams quickly melt.
i never seem to fit,
but,
what other shape can i be?
only me,
only me.
king canute,
trying to turn back the sea,
and here i am
just trying to be a suitable version of me,
just trying to be me,
just trying to be me.
