learning the words
someone else used to say
i am the freefall juggler

going back through your life
is like looking through a rubbish tip –
on top of a gem mine
there is a lot of rubbish
with the occasional precious stone to find

there is something deeply precious in younger days
it wines and dines us but it cannot stay
i cannot tell you what it appeared to be
i have seen it though and i have seen it in me

i have written about you
almost more than most
yet now,
when it comes to our friendship
you no longer want to be a host

i am a flawed human being
and i accept it
accept personality can shift
egotistical plates
cause rifts
