and he has –
constructed a new life
buying a smile for his wife
teaching the children not to bite

when i was much younger
i was full of words and things to say
but as the years race by –
the words just seem to fall away

but unlike left or right,
i remain gloriously bored
if i ever saw the light,
then i definitely pulled the cord

achievement is unsprung
anxiety is doing a lap of honour
as if it has already won ,

i can feel the change –
and i do accept it
i accept it as a begrudging friend g

fragile pieces of my being break off
it happens –
in the wind and rain
and i always run much faster

houses –
they don’t give up their possessions easily
we are moving house
but how much stuff have we moved?
