Fragile Pieces of My Being – Written Wednesday 6th April 2022 (Aged 47)

Fragile Pieces of My Being

fragile pieces of my being break off
it happens –
in the wind and rain
and i always run much faster
just to out run the pain
because the tenants of hope
are placed upon my name
and i know it,
i am a tell-tale
of every being i have found
but childhood, too often
is something parents like to drown
but i am lucky,
i know my stars can be found
fragile pieces of my well being
do crash lightly to the ground
are we snowflakes –
or is it that we’re a different type of sound
i try to be strong
but the world is a slave to inequality
just as self view,
is a prisoner to stone cold reality
and my lust for achievement
is underpinned by reassuring naivety
fragile pieces of my being break off
and once again we are falling
in some ways i know i am ghostly
but i do know my calling
