Working Shifts

Working Shifts

i see them –
struggling to make headway
large institutions
always have their say
i see their vulnerability
as they to hold on tight
stand their ground –
hoping that their truth will be found
amongst,
the brick bats and fighting
i see a softer side
and something caring
if they hold dear,
the idea,
of, speak truth to power
then i know
the problems they will face
from standing up
to not knowing their designated place
it is hard
working shifts with men,
with a workforce
embedded in debt ridden cultures
where,
you swim just to avoid vultures
