Greys and Duds

Greys and Duds

i watch the musical
in my memories
and understand the score
the songs
from which emotion poured
i understand now
what each one meant
the feeling of their nightmares
the dreams they dreamt
it is that,
that makes me upset
how much sadness
did my mum collect?
those sunday mornings
the soundtrack played out
seeping into my subconscious
and now i know what it is about
i am sad,
for their sadness
their emotional personality
living with greys and duds
reaching out for fantasy
drowned by the dirty dishes and the suds
i watch the musical
hear the refrain,
and i miss mum once more
as sadness plays out again
