Contain, Hold, Steady

Contain, Hold, Steady

i try to hold them up
the best i can
i have always cared
if only because of who i am
i have never been
that stone cold
maybe shyness has found me
but my jokes are bold
i try to contain
when it starts to rain
i try to hold
when the fabric starts to fold
i soak up
like i soaked it up as a child
i breathe in
and light a fire a in my belly
i smile
and turn on a light in my eyes
i try to make sure
they have a place to talk
a safe space
with meaningful faces
reflecting,
using the joy of human tracing
all those worried lines
i try to hold onto them
