I Let Go
slowly i let go
that past was a heavy burden
it haunted me all my life
left my days disguised as night
so i rushed to the river
an drowned my sorrows
in the fantasy i created
slowly i let go
ever so slowly you know
careful to banish the cold
as my father left the room
i gave him the wooden spoon
and i told him to drink out of the river
the salty river we had al cried
every time the creep had crept off
and left us with never enough
slowly i let go
the past was choking me to death
it was coming in when i was not looking
and it was trying to steal my breath
got me slightly round the throat
so i jumped into the moat
and swam to safety in a dull glow
so slowly i let go
ever so slowly i let go
