A World Was In Waiting – Written January 2012 (Aged 36)

A World Was In Waiting

fell asleep on my bed
there is a world in my head
and for a second i was away
but those waves,
crash with more ocean spray
they remind me –
of devastated days
i think of the child she will never hold
never see grow
there was a world in waiting
a world i wanted to share
there was so much ahead
so much for her to be proud of
my final memories –
will not sully what existed in life
just as a child needs a guiding hand
someone to fly their kite
someone to realise their dreams
help them reach distant stars
sail dreamy boats down streams
i know now,
i must sail upon our memories
