Cartwheels in the Back of a Hearse

my life
has been hopscotch in reverse
cartwheels
in the back of a hearse
a juggling act
trapped inside clockwork verse
a runner’s dream
that occasionally fails to swerve
my life
has been board games not found
handstands
inside a musical scream
a comedy gig
in a pub with a novelty theme
my life
has been a vault jump
then the bars,
amongst a vaudeville hunt
where i long for a barge
on a canal not turned into an exoctic dump
i have made it
with a personality
hacked out the childhood experience
and a life,
where the stranglehold of conformity,
is constant interference
