Abandonment and Rejection
it is there,
the abandonment
the rejection and the hurt
all the guilt shouldered
so much hurt,
unable to take responsibility
for too much shame
made to shoulder things
for which they were not to blame
it is there,
the rejection
like a free ticket
to somewhere dead inside
where a younger child waits
and starts to cry
the layers adding up over the years
everyone appearing to leave
with a leaving present of fear
the guilt and shame
does not run freely with tears
