Tickle It’s Belly – Written Tuesday 21st July 2020 (Aged 45)

Tickle It’s Belly

what would you like me to do –
with you opinion of me
look, i could hang some bunting on it
or i could paint it in pretty colours
maybe i could hang it in a frame
or i could act like it is parental approval
and accept that you want me to take the blame
i could attempt your hurdles
i fear though that it will only end in pain
so, what would you like me to do –
with your opinion of me
maybe i could turn it into some street art
perhaps open up a pop up gallery
and then i could auction it online
or make it top prize in a treasure hunt
and then maybe, we shall see what we find
i could take your opinion of me
and then hold it up to the light
i could ask people who know me to examine it
and then debate whether it is right
i could just tickle its belly
you know, just to see if it bites
or i could see if it could keep me warm
maybe even see if it could hold me tight
what would you like me to do –
with your opinion of me
