Those Other Men – Written May 2015 (Aged 40)

Those Other Men

sometimes, i know i am too brash
that those other men
especially husbands
now have to play their part
they can work a room
they even have children
and here is me,
with my edges exposed
with my pettiness and hurt
all on unfortunate show
those other men,
have the life lived before
the pretend it does not matter
but they still peek behind former doors
i see people smiling
and i am racing
to the next comment
which may not go down
there is no constraint
i attack my walls with graffiti
and leave out the subtler paint
i do not like my edges
i do not like the roughness of my hue
do as others do, try to walk
even though the shoes do not belong to you
