Beyond Their Grasp

i have never liked people –
who lie to me
in the fashion
that it is a norm
and my thoughts
have melted,
for those,
whose self honesty
is beyond their grasp
on a mountain too steep
an unenviable task
people,
will make their lives complicated
just as a distraction
we have all –
turned on our illuminations
hoping to be an attraction
the complications –
just lead to nowhere
stress and depression
lights out at the fair
what are they so afraid of
when self honesty seems so strained
