Believe Your Own Fiction
how is it –
that i have –
so often, stabbed, cut
and agonised over –
every decision
and yet,
a charmed few
are protected by their self illusion
how is it –
their self promotion
turns into actual promotion
it is the standard beauty
of coming up short
but believing your own tall tales
how is it,
their ego offers infinite life support
a lifeboat –
a breakdown van –
a float
and others to carry their can
an endless supply of hands
yet so often, my luck has just hid
and so often ran
how is it?
