A Slave To My Dreams – Written Friday 1st October 1999 (Aged 24)

A Slave To My Dreams

there is no need to be on your own
there is no need to be alone
i am just waiting for you
hold me now the rain has come
i remember being young
just sitting in the summer shade
not interrupted by the world
or the plans that life had made
i am holding myself tight tonight
and letting the lamplight flood in
because this all feels like a dream
and the lamplight is real
but that is far from what i feel
there is no need to be alone
just sitting here in my shade
i am just counting off another phase
to my dreams i will always be a slave
but my dreams just could be
the one thing that unlocks my chains
and set me free
