Giving Up the Fight – Written Between Tuesday 15th February 1994 and October 1994 (Aged 18/19)

Giving Up the Fight

i ran quietly, or so i thought
but you heard me
and on escape,
i could not be bought
we talked till two
you told me you were going
i said, i need you
and we looked outside
the sky was turning blue
the day was coming alive
all the people from the night before
still really hurt
as they opened their front door
and headed out for work
i could not move, tied up by my own lies
she sat in the corner
only the guilty cries
and that is what i told her
and to my surprise
we did have something to share
societies demands crumbled
and i disappeared with her
into the world where nothing is right
now i was going home
giving up the fight
