An Unforgiving World and a Struggle to Identify – Written Tuesday 23rd March 2021 (Aged 46)

An Unforgiving World and a Struggle to Identify

a norm
it dictates that –
mental health is an illness
but,
they,
as a person
they cannot confirm
to the many societal norms
so they accept –
what they are told
mental health is an illness
it means,
in some fashion they are accepted
and sown into the fabric of society
finding some way
where expectations –
are not so steep
and in the end, they bathe in that identity
that label, and that badge
because unless they accept they are ill
society will not accept them
that strange twist of fate
where societies experiences break them
but only by ignoring them will it be their, ‘mate’
being societies mental health actor is their role
and in a way
they have to find comfort in that
in a predefined norm
an idea,
a medical model
the idea that mental health is an illness
