Selling a Lie – Written November 1994 (Aged 19)

Selling a Lie

it all started out so well
i ran, headlong, into my future
but then, i tripped and fell
and i found myself in pain
and somehow,
i never managed to get back up again
way back when
it all started out so well
someone sold me life
must have been someone from hell
in my last life
as i climbed the stairs
someone was waiting there
and said, ‘do you want to try it again’
i said, why, it is all pain
but they convinced me
convinced me that things could change
so here i am again, back in reality
sometimes thinking
what is it like to die
because i know, someone sold me a lie
and i bought it so well
from someone, probably from hell
it does not really matter
one day i will come out of my shell
