Open Our Eyes Again

power looks to consolidate
its power
and it looks,
to disenfranchise others
yet, people still believe –
the powerful-
will do the best for them
that it has their –
best interest at heart
yet people –
still vote for the abuse
as if actual choice –
is somehow obtuse
as if the bolts and screws
are always loose
power looks to consolidate
the power
and yet, despite –
our rights being shovelled –
and buried
no one –
appears particularly worried
when?
when?
when?
will we open our eyes again
