I Am Not Really There

i speak to people
and sometimes
i am not really there
i know,
that i still care
but these days
people –
are rarely surprising
and in my mind –
and in my emotions
they rarely –
cause an uprising
i have seen it all before
i still want my friends
that is never a chore
but in these days
of heartfelt care
i speak to people
but i am not really there
