Consequences- Written Wednesday 5th May 2021 (Aged 46)

Consequences

he was silent
as he walked past me
as if,
he was snubbing me
but that is not the case
because,
i am appalled by him
and it is me,
snubbing him
we have to live next door
to the consequences –
of his life choices
the unregulated behaviour
the raised voices
we have to live next door
to the consequences
of decisions –
which appear to be quite loose
the irrationality
the verbal abuse
he appals me
older, vulnerable –
yes, i understand that
but there was no dignity
to come and find our day
instead he just hides
being silent as he passes me
not, ‘man enough’, to apologise
or offer words of comfort
