New Normal – Written Wednesday 19th May 2021

New Normal

what is the new normal
raindrops,
but more formal?
hugs all round
but with such a different sound
and will want and touch
cover new ground?
what has happened
since society and the world
caught a deadly cold
and tilted the earth on its axis
is change struck
by a sudden and irreversible paralysis

what is the new normal
work from home
as if,
we were never alone
tidy up
when the showers are all done
complete our jigsaws
and draw pictures just for fun
feel the need for socialisation
and then we become undone
what has happened
to the realms of our society
what is the new normal
what is the new normal for you and me
