Almost a Year – Written August 2008 (Aged 33)

Almost a Year

it is almost a year now
and i look back,
not with regret
but with a wonder
and i think,
from there to here
and i look forwards
and it is not with regret
just a desire
to find a little respect
i am always here
i know,
some people may not find you
or agree with what you say
they may not even like you
it is almost a year now
i hold onto the rail
as the roller coaster carries on
but i never think,
well i have failed
we just learn to live on
as a flame that flickers and burns
then it is gone
and all the time we try to learn
and now, i have found a shelter
meanwhile i just shuffle forwards
shuffling in life’s disorderly queue
if you hold onto me
i will make sure i am holding onto you
