Sometime Today (Part 1) – Written Friday 17th February 1995 (Aged 19)

Sometime Today

all i do is melt away for you
in this here pouring rain
i just play with the strange
i run as fast as i can
please do not say my name
i do not understand
i am trying work fast
to get my life back together
then you give me a friendly reminder
that once, you were there
i am back where i started
and i do not want to be here
today i realised –
that the people i had known
were becoming blurred
their words are memories in my head
their words now seem slurred
i suddenly realised –
that everything was becoming the same
i am going absolutely nowhere
i need some drastic change
i have got to get out of here
i do not know how the world will change
when so many people stay the same
i want to walk away to another land
sometime today
