Up To My Ankles in Mud – Written Thursday 21st May 2009 (Aged 34)

Up To My Ankles in Mud

i am not here –
just for the demands
out here –
on the farm
where it is not so funny
and the joke falls flat
up to my ankles in mud
and there is no going back

i am not here
so someone else –
can get what they want
or what they need
i will not be the band aid
as they bleed
out here on this farm
which is not funny
where we scrimp and save
this emotional money
