In Glory We Pass
in glory we pass
only to fall –
and land upon our arse
on a pedestal we are placed
till event he village idiot
laughs at the egg on our face
we start out with spit and polish
and end up with spit
and where once they stood to applaud
now they just sit
i used to be handsome
but now i am just jane
and if you remember
everyone said she was plain
in glory we pass
without wrinkles or flaws
and even in the cask people stop
and people pause
if you can, you should just laugh
in glory we pass
only to fall –
and land upon our arse
