Another Deadly Sin
people lives like jenga blocks
or a house of cards
they breathe in in case it falls apart
they have written an amazing story
and they have written it on rice paper
or some tracing paper
on the back of a napkin
served by a dumb waiter
that life is reinforced by pictures
and people
but not by authenticity
i watch people as they complete –
epic runs around an historic city
so he looks happy
and she maintains her pretty
that will be the smile
they have to wear for the rest of their lives
i see the teeth and there is no overbite
in fact they look very white
they are drenched in cocktails and gin
maybe falseness –
should have been one of the deadly sins
