Family Tree – Written Tuesday 7th December 2021 (Aged 46)

Family Tree

could i see
such a family tree
and know,
what each branch means to me
could i spend time
in a shadowed past
could i remove secrets
as if they had been a cast
could i jump back
to the days
of the 1930’s semi detached
when piano’s rang out
and beer felt flat
could i know
where i come from
and could i understand
how decisions
that once filled gaps in my life
now just look like cracks
could i see
such a family tree
