Palace
the nicknames
the ones that we had given each other
that held us together,
oh, she used my nickname
and i longed for that closeness –
that we had once built around our frames
the palace of no pain
i think i saw her smile at me
i think i fell to my knees
that is the kind of emotion that she brings
she used my nickname
and left me to ride the bumper cars alone
i rode them in the sinking pit of the insane
the nicknames
which had been our moments of affection
i remembered when she lay down with me
and i was transfixed by her every direction
when she promised me to her soul
what i want is that kind of election
it may be right but seems a shame
to succumb to such dereliction
