You Clung to Me
you did not walk away
you clung to me,
like a limpet
like a barnacle,
clings to a boat
like a chill wind,
clings to your being
in the winter cold
you did not walk away
you held on,
with needy hands
and with,
a lack of social skills
and with an unwillingness –
to ever understand
you did not walk away
you camped out in hope
