Expression – Written November 2006 (Aged 31)

Expression

i tried expressing myself
but somebody –
wanted me to be somebody else
take the rough with the smooth
i can only be myself
but somebody –
wanted answers from the past
and after deciding who i was
they thought i was fit for the task
but, they never got to know me
and they never really asked
i tried expressing myself
but somebody –
wanted me to be somebody else
a hand reaching down
from the highest shelf
take the good with the bad
we should only ever be ourselves
