The Longing To Be Liked
the constant justification
the searching for approval
the longing,
the longing to be liked
it does not take you anywhere
at least,
not anywhere of value
are children not enough?
is family not enough?
has part of it become suffocating
has it?
do you dare not admit it?
and instead,
let the guilt of such thoughts –
just haunt you
and is that why you constantly –
tell the world –
about all the things you do?
are you just trying to convince them
or are you just trying to convince yourself?
others, those who are comfortable
well, as comfortable as anyone can be –
in your own skin
why do you see these as such a threat?
