Watching Parents
i watch parents as they –
hang themselves with guilt
prisons of their childhood
too easily built
i watch parents as they –
wonder if the bond is natural
i have seen panic in their eyes
those who do not feel tied
who have a past that they feel –
prevents them –
from being hands on
from hugs and cuddles
left in a void
brain in a muddle
so they over compensate
fearing that they are transparent
that people will see them –
as bad parents
and they say the same phrases
trying to reassure themselves –
how difficult it must be
