Trumpets Suddenly No Longer Call
i step out of your life
my grip lessens
there is a darker place
it starts to beckon
and i know,
trumpets,
suddenly no longer call
i feel myself slipping
and i start to fall
i watch as you smile
and i watch you let go
suddenly all the tension
starts to show
and confidence ebbs away
i know our day is over
and that it cannot stay
i step out of your life
your grips lessens
and eventually lets go
there is a fearful place for me
and now is beckons
