The Look Upon My Face
i described it as a blow
which, of course –
is an understatement
it is the kind of thing you say –
when the extent –
and the impact of something –
leaves you speechless
you say words –
that are so inadequate –
and so lacking in feeling –
and descriptive quality
so i am left –
to describe it a blow
avoiding lengthy –
and potentially socially awkward –
descriptions,
even avoiding half baked –
clichés and romantic idealism
such as,
‘it has torn me apart’,
‘i feel such a loss’,
and, ‘i miss them so much i ache’,
instead i just said, it was a blow
and i left the rest to the look upon my face
