What Is It?
what is it –
about me that annoys you so?
or is it about me having a voice
is that the most difficult part?
am i mean to be in a place –
perhaps a box –
with the lid firmly closed
must you chase down every word
with a slap to the face
is this where i learn to love my place
picked for me but not by me
what is it –
that causes this pressure
still such a part of my life
you are still so much inside of me
but i cannot live out your prejudice
and the person you want me to be
