I Tend The Garden That No Longer Grows
anniversaries,
signify time
they bring back to the surface memories
that are there at the back of your mind
anniversaries,
january this year…
i think of last year
and i think of the decisions i made
and then, through a little fear
i think of the routes i could have taken
anniversaries,
but i am not celebrating
only deliberating
on what could have happened
i have to admit it
i want her here now
next to me and with me
anniversaries,
i tend the garden
the one that no longer grows
i am haunted by a feeling
that never seems to go
