Birthday Gifts That Are Ready Made

there is acceptance –
that does come with age
birthday gifts –
that are ready made
i used to wonder –
what was next
i used to speculate on its nature
but then, life used to be a checklist
and i did not used to be me

there is acceptance –
that does come with age
i do not wonder about everything
after all, birthdays have come and gone
and youth has disappeared
as i over speculate on being young
and i know i can bever be
as wide eyed as i once was
i can never be as directionless
as the days when i was lost
