Do It Myself
if i am to be labelled
i would rather i wrote it myself
i know,
my handwriting is not so good
but rather that,
than somebody else
after all,
i do have some idea of myself
so pass me the pen,
pass me the labels from the narrow shelf
let me get comfortable
as i write the label myself
let me empty my head of any kind of wisdom –
humanity or open minded thought
after all,
it is a kind of ignorance that is sought
if i am to be labelled
le me have one last request
let’s set up the course
and see if i manage to pass the test
then let me sit down down
and imagine i am somebody else,
let me write the label,
i would rather do it myself
