I Am Not Your Puppet

i am not your puppet
and you,
you are not my puppeteer
let’s make that clear
i won’t be put on your stool
not as the village fool
we play by my rules
if i want to talk seriously
it’s because i’m feeling sensitive
and if i’m not being hilarious
it’s because i am on the sidelines
i am not your puppet
so so not cross over the line
let’s make that clear
i am not your puppet
and you,
you are not my puppeteer
you might think you know me
but you really don’t
you think i’m there just to be funny
well i won’t
and maybe it’s down to fear
let’s move on to a different me
i am not your puppet
and you,
you are not my puppeteer
